CHP's metropolitan mayoral candidates have been announced
Speaking after the Party Assembly meeting, CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel announced that candidates for 227 electoral districts have been determined.
In a message sent by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel to Party Assembly members, it was stated: "Dear Party Assembly Member; our Party Assembly will convene on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 15:00 at the Party Headquarters in Ankara to discuss the agenda items."
The Republican People's Party Assembly (CHP PM) convened around 17:50. Following the meeting, CHP Spokesperson Deniz Yücel announced that candidates for 227 electoral districts had been determined. The CHP Party Assembly decided on the metropolitan mayoral candidates unanimously.
Among the names decided upon are Ekrem İmamoğlu for Istanbul, Mansur Yavaş for Ankara, Tanju Özcan for Bolu, Mustafa Bozbey for Bursa, and Ahmet Akın for Balıkesir.
Yücel stated, "It has been decided to hold primary elections in 23 electoral districts. We have determined our candidates for 58 districts and 227 mayoralties, and we will share them with the public."
TANJU ÖZCAN ANNOUNCED
Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan, who has returned to the CHP, announced that it was decided at today's CHP PM meeting that he would be nominated again for the Bolu Mayoralty.
Özcan, in a post on the X platform, stated: "I have learned with pleasure that our CHP PM members have declared me as the Bolu Mayoral candidate. Thank you to the changing CHP staff... Greetings to the Atatürkists, patriots, and Turkish nationalists who are the guarantors of the Nation-State."
