Deniz Zeyrek's commentary on the Imrali meeting: 'Like a partner in a new alliance'

'THE NEW PARTNER OF THE PEOPLE'S ALLIANCE'

Journalist Deniz Zeyrek analyzed the notable aspects of the meeting in his column in Nefes. 

Pointing to the significance of this contact, which Onder carried out in his capacity as Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Zeyrek drew attention to the messages of PKK leader Ocalan. Zeyrek stated that Ocalan referencing the statement, "I possess the competence and determination to provide the necessary positive contribution to the new paradigm empowered by Mr. Bahceli and Mr. Erdogan," commented that "He has positioned himself like a new partner of the People's Alliance." commented.

Evaluating the impact of developments in Syria on domestic politics, Zeyrek "He can refresh his power at home with the success he will achieve in Syria. This could make a major contribution to the 'lifetime power' goal he dreams of" he said.

SYRIA FOR THE OPPOSITION  CRITICISM  

Zeyrek, who also directed criticism toward the opposition, stated, "The opposition is failing to sufficiently establish the link between developments in Syria and the new dynamics in Turkey. A shallow approach is being taken toward the Syrian issue through the lens of migrants. However, the new picture in Syria, which includes Imrali, is much more complex than it appears."
