Egyptian President Sisi arrives in Turkey after a 12-year hiatus

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will make his first visit to Turkey today.

Sisi's visit will be the first at the presidential level from Egypt to Turkey in 12 years.

AKP Chairman and President Tayyip Erdoğan will welcome Sisi with an official ceremony at the Presidential Complex.

FIRST MEETING OF THE HIGH-LEVEL STRATEGIC COOPERATION COUNCIL TO BE HELD

According to the statement made by the Presidential Directorate of Communications, within the scope of the visit, the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which was restructured in accordance with the Joint Declaration signed during Erdoğan's visit to Cairo on February 14, 2024, will be held under the chairmanship of the Presidents of the two countries.

At the council meeting, Turkey-Egypt relations will be reviewed in all aspects, and joint steps that can be taken in the coming period to further develop bilateral cooperation will be discussed.

In addition to bilateral relations, mutual views will be exchanged on current regional and global issues, primarily the Israeli attacks in Gaza and Palestinian territories.

Within the scope of the meeting, the signing of some documents aimed at strengthening the contractual basis of relations is also on the agenda.

The following was noted in the statement made by the Presidential Directorate of Communications:

"Upon the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi will pay an official visit to our country on September 4, 2024.

Within the scope of the visit, the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, which was restructured in accordance with the Joint Declaration signed during our President's visit to Cairo on February 14, 2024, will be held under the chairmanship of the Presidents of the two countries.

At the Council Meeting, Turkey-Egypt relations will be reviewed in all their aspects, and joint steps that can be taken in the coming period to further develop bilateral cooperation will be discussed.
