Yavuz Ağıralioğlu reacts sharply to the detention of Ümit Özdağ! 'Unlawful'
Anahtar Party Chairman Yavuz Ağıralioğlu reacted to the detention of Victory Party (Zafer Partisi) Chairman Ümit Özdağ. Stating that the detention decision was unlawful, Ağıralioğlu expressed that it caused harm to democracy, the rule of law, and freedom of expression.
Regarding the detention of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, Anahtar Party Chairman Yavuz Ağıralioğlu said, "Sending delegations to the murderer of our children and speaking of the right to hope, while issuing a detention order for a political party chairman, is unacceptable in the name of democracy, law, freedom of expression, and our country."
In a post on his social media account, Ağıralioğlu stated the following:
"In states governed by democracy and based on the rule of law, the right of politics to criticize and object cannot be hindered by the 'intervention' of judicial bodies.
Considering that Zafer Party Chairman Mr. Ümit Özdağ would have come if summoned to testify, it is clear that the detention decision, its place of implementation, and its timing are not in accordance with the law.
Sending delegations to the murderer of our children and speaking of the right to hope, while issuing a detention order for a political party chairman, is unacceptable in the name of democracy, law, freedom of expression, and our country.
Such practices, which harm the effort to create a democratic state of law, must be abandoned immediately."
