Here is the cost of the 'Mehmet Şimşek is leaving' rumors

10haber columnist Erdal Sağlam addressed the negative effects of rumors that Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek would resign on the economy. Sağlam emphasized that the economic cost of these rumors is approximately 10 billion dollars.

Erdal Sağlam stated that, according to the economic management's calculations, the loss in foreign exchange reserves accounts for a large portion of this cost. He also said that the economic damage caused by the 3 percent increase in the basket exchange rate in August should not be ignored.

Stating that the source of these resignation rumors are AKP party officials, bureaucrats, and advisors, Sağlam suggested that the timing of these rumors is linked to the failure of the expected decline in annual inflation due to the base effect, and operations intended to be carried out before inflation reaches the set targets.
