Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's advisor İbrahim Özkan detained

İbrahim Özkan, an advisor to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and presidential candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu, was taken into custody under police escort yesterday evening. According to information obtained, it was stated that Özkan was taken to the courthouse to provide a statement.

"AS PART OF THE IMM INVESTIGATION"

Journalist İsmail Saymaz, speaking on the "Para Siyaset" program broadcast on Halk TV, announced live on air that Özkan had been taken into custody. Regarding the detention process of İbrahim Özkan, Saymaz stated, "Technically, they are not calling this a detention. They are calling it taking a statement under police escort; he is currently being taken to the courthouse. He will be questioned as part of the IMM investigation."

ÖZKAN'S DRIVER IS IN CUSTODY

Saymaz also stated that İbrahim Özkan's driver had been arrested, noting that the driver was arrested following allegations made by the driver of Ertan Yıldız, a presidential advisor responsible for IMM subsidiaries who had previously turned state's witness. In this context, it is alleged that Özkan's statement is also being taken within the framework of the IMM investigation.

HE RESIGNED FROM THE IYI PARTY DURING THE LOCAL ELECTIONS

İbrahim Özkan had resigned from the IYI Party while serving as an IMM Council Member during the 2019 local elections and decided to support Ekrem İmamoğlu.
