İYİ Party Spokesperson Zorlu holds press conference: 'This is called operation politics'

At the press conference held at the party headquarters, Zorlu expressed his condolences for Ankara University faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Necip Hablemitoğlu on the 21st anniversary of his death and stated that his party is against such assassinations.

Reminding that the Minimum Wage Commission held its second meeting today, Zorlu stated that their proposal for the 2024 net minimum wage is at least 17 thousand liras for the first half of the year and at least 20 thousand 500 liras for the second half.

Zorlu said, "However, the cost of living has risen so much that these amounts may not mean much for large households. On the other hand, because of inflation, which is still high even if it is said to be falling, we will be talking about how the raise has no meaning after a few months."

"WE HAVE NOT HAD A SIGNIFICANT LOSS"

Answering journalists' questions after his speech, Zorlu responded to a question regarding the resignation of İYİ Party Diyarbakır Provincial Chair Vejdin Ensarioğlu and some members, as well as İYİ Party Group Deputy Chair of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council İbrahim Özkan and 5 council members, as follows:

"I want to express that there is a very serious, integrated, and at times planned attack against our party. We had 11 thousand 179 registered members in Diyarbakır. 575 member resignations occurred in the last week. But I would like you to know this technical detail: despite this number of members, we received 20 thousand votes there in the last election."

Stating that they have over 617 thousand members nationwide, Zorlu said, "There have been some resignations in the last 10 days at the scale I mentioned, but we have also had new member enrollments. When we evaluate these as a whole, we have not had a significant loss."

"THIS IS CALLED OPERATION POLITICS"

Zorlu made the following allegations regarding a person who was among those who resigned from their party:

"Today, they are calling one of our Municipal Council members in a nearby province outside of Istanbul. They say, 'We will announce that we have resigned collectively as council members on a television channel this evening. You should also resign in the province you are in,' and by giving the name of another person from the Republican People's Party, they say, 'Let us arrange a meeting for you with them immediately.' This is called operation politics."

Upon another question, Zorlu said that determining candidates in metropolitan cities like Ankara and Istanbul requires special work and that they will share it when it matures.

"I WONDER WHICH POSITIONS THEY WILL ASPIRE TO"

When asked whether the resignations would cause a collapse within the party, Zorlu stated that they view resignation as a choice, but that they are against the mentality that tries to harm the party in different ways in a manner that does not suit their party. Zorlu said, "During the election process, we will all see together which positions some of these friends of ours will aspire to in the future; I leave this to the appreciation of our nation."

Regarding the question of whether there will be other personnel changes following the departure of Head of Law and Justice Policies Ahmet Zeki Üçok, Zorlu replied, "Our Presidential Council and our Chairman determine their colleagues in this process within the framework of the authority granted by our bylaws. Therefore, Mr. Üçok will continue his duty as a member of the General Administrative Board, not as a member of the Presidential Council. It is not right to drag this into different processes."
