MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli speaks at Ülkü Ocakları program: 'There is no account the nationalist movement cannot give'

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli made remarkable statements at a press conference held before an educational program for Ülkü Ocakları provincial presidents.

"WHATEVER GROUPS ARE OPPOSED TO TURKISHNESS AND ISLAM..."

"Turkish youth are our declaration of the future. The nationalist-idealist youth are the essence, self-confidence, and core values of Turkish youth; they are the brave hearts that shake off the dust of death. One of the most mysterious aspects of human life is not knowing where the steps one takes today will lead. However, it is possible for people of reason, consciousness, and ideals to determine the crossroads and turning points of fate. Because, the more one leaves behind, the more the future becomes clear; this is a fact of life.

The geography of the world is full of the ruins and debris of hundreds of societies that could not stand tall, could not sustain their existence, and flared up and faded away like a straw fire. In contrast, societies that give meaning to existence, realize the immense synthesis between yesterday, today, and tomorrow, develop a common consciousness on the heritage they have received, make a culture their flag, and raise generations to carry this flag, have succeeded in overcoming this tragic course of history. This endless formation and search continue today, and for monuments seeking their nation, and nations that have lost their monuments, the cruelty of history continues with all its intensity.

You are the standard-bearers and brave soldiers of Turkish culture. The pure intention to add Turkish history to Turkish independence is with you. It is extremely natural for those who are disturbed by the struggle of Turkish nationalism—which is based on faith, morality, and love for the homeland and nation, and which finds its source in the Turkish-Islamic ideal—to raise the bar of lies and slander against Ülkü Ocakları, which observes the right, the people, and the truth. If someone is intimidated by your existence, if the arrows of sedition and malice are constantly directed at you, if you are being subjected to pressure and siege, know that your path is right and your future is open. As long as you do not weaken your unity and integrity. As long as you do not compromise your stance and determination. Since the first day it was founded, Ülkü Ocakları has been subjected to many unjust and shameless accusations. Every group that opposes or harbors hostility toward Turkishness and Islam has entered a race of defamation."

"THE ACCUSATIONS LEVELED AGAINST ÜLKÜ OCAKLARI AND THE MHP ARE UNDER OUR FEET"

"As someone who grew up in Ülkü Ocakları, I am, of course, a witness to everything. Ülkü Ocakları is the insurmountable fortress of the Turkish nation, the unbreakable castle wall, and the symbol of heroism that will never be captured. In essence, it is Turkishness and the Turkish nation, rather than Ülkü Ocakları, that are at the center of this dark target. It is Ülkü Ocakları that meets the internal and external circles—who roll up their sleeves to clear the path for the circulation and manifestation of occupation and treason—at every stage, keeps them awake at night, and even drives them crazy. All those who are disturbed by this historical mission have gathered in the nest of Turkophobia. Whoever is troubled, driven mad, complaining, or offended by this brave stance is a coward who describes the Century of Turkey and the Turkish era as a nightmare.

All the allegations and accusations currently being stirred up regarding Ülkü Ocakları and the MHP are under our feet. There is no need to be immoderate or angry in the face of developments. Serving the nation with reason, determination, morality, understanding, and patience is our sole goal. Ultimately, the nationalist-idealist movement, together with the People's Alliance (Cumhur İttifakı), carries the cherished hopes of the Turkish nation on its shoulders."

"WHAT MATTERS IS NOT WHERE YOU HAVE ARRIVED, BUT HOW YOU ARRIVED"

"Rest assured that your struggle will be told from tongue to tongue like the poems of Yunus; those who set traps and manufacture black campaigns today will, when the time comes, be forced to acknowledge your rights in deep regret. Ülkü Ocakları is the sign of all the values that the Turkish nation has woven stitch by stitch with such power of mind, wrist, and heart.

No wind will be of any use to a ship that does not know where it is going. The lifeblood of a person or society without an ideal or faith is dry. What did Cenap Şehabettin say? 'Both eagles and snakes are found on the peaks. However, one arrived there by crawling, the other by soaring.' What matters is not where you have arrived, but how you arrived. It is possible to see, by looking at many examples on the stage of Turkey and the world, how those who consider every path legitimate and permissible to reach their goal cause the erosion of values. Thank God, Turkey will leave its mark on the new century with friends like you, who know what they are doing and are each a defender of the homeland. You are the future, and the future will come with you. As long as you continue the struggle with your mind, faith, conscience, character, and ability, and as long as you see work as a philosophy of life and reading as a gift of existence, there will be no obstacle you cannot overcome.

When such a time comes, and the question 'who is there' is asked, I will always be proud of the Turkish youth who say 'I am here' without looking to their right or left, and in short, I will always be proud of you."

"IT IS NECESSARY TO STAY AWAY FROM TRAPS AND DARK GAMES"

"My dear brothers, my dear fellow idealists. Life is adorned with the infinite goals of a finite process. For us mortals, survival is an infinite purpose. One of the main dilemmas of today's world is the loss of a holistic understanding of truth. My advice is for you to be lovers of truth and justice. In the Turkish-Islamic civilization, which rises like a skyscraper in the triangle of patience, gratitude, and remembrance, the common discourses of modernism have not been seen, and they will not be seen hereafter. The Turkish-Islamic spirit accepts worldly life as a field for the afterlife. Because, in no period of our history has it been the case that our people, who lead an equal and honorable life in the mosque, at school, and in every environment and sphere of life, have been subjected to discrimination and treated as second-class citizens at the state level. Let our only debate be a debate of ideas and pens.

No difficulty should stop you. No matter how great the threat, how close the danger, or what the obstacles may be, the national responsibility and consciousness we carry must suppress our excitement and anger. It is necessary to stay away from traps and dark games and to remain vigilant. No one has a past or a temperament honest, balanced, consistent, and sincere enough to remind us of justice and law.
