MHP's Feti Yıldız announces: Selahattin Demirtaş is covered by the framework law
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız stated that former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş is covered by the framework law.
Following the adoption of the framework law by a majority vote in Parliament, a notable statement has come from the MHP while the debate continues over whether former HDP Co-Chairman Selahattin Demirtaş can benefit from the regulation.
MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız announced that Demirtaş is included within the scope of the law. The statement reached the public after journalist Alişer Delek brought the issue up during a broadcast on Habertürk TV.
Delek stated that after he shared his assessment regarding Demirtaş's situation on the air, Yıldız sent him a note. Delek announced the development with the following words:
"I brought up Demirtaş's situation on the air. I said, 'His brother Nurettin Demirtaş will return from the mountain cadre, but Selahattin Demirtaş's situation is uncertain.' Mr. Feti Yıldız sent a note to the Habertürk broadcast and said, 'Selahattin Demirtaş is covered by the law.'"

Demirtaş's lawyer, Mahsuni Karaman, had also previously stated in a post on his social media account that Demirtaş and his colleagues were imprisoned under Article 302 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), which is covered by the law, and that there was no legal hesitation regarding their release once the regulation came into effect.
