In his post, Pehlivan stated, "A shopkeeper paid my bill on behalf of İmamoğlu. This was not just a meal, but a message of solidarity."
Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Ekrem İmamoğlu, the arrested and removed President of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye and Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, recounted a dialogue he had with a shopkeeper following İmamoğlu's trial.
Pehlivan said, "Many people ask, 'Will we really be able to overcome these injustices?' Yesterday, after Mr. İmamoğlu's hearing, I was eating alone somewhere. When I asked for the bill, the waiter approached and said, 'Mayor Ekrem has paid your bill, enjoy your meal.'" he stated.
