New move from the 'null and void' management in CHP: Date set for Party Assembly and disciplinary board

The 'null and void' management that took office following a court decision in the Republican People's Party (CHP) has increased its activity within the party. The team, which held its first Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting under the chairmanship of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, announced that the Party Assembly will convene on June 11. Additionally, work by the disciplinary board is being launched without delay.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, Müslim Sarı, the spokesperson for the 'null and void' management, who made an assessment regarding the process after the MYK meeting, emphasized the success achieved by the CHP in the local elections and stated, “The CHP is the party Turkey needs most. It came in first in the local elections, with a vote share of over 34 percent. Everyone should know that we are candidates for political power.” Sarı stated that the new management arose from a court mandate and that they “represent the will of the party delegates.”

NEW DIALOGUE STEPS BY THE 'NULL AND VOID' MANAGEMENT

Sarı expressed his discomfort with the stance taken by the party's elected management against the 'null and void' decision with the following words:

“It is not possible to move forward by ignoring the problems.”

Calling on the CHP, Sarı expressed that they expect contributions to the process from members, mayors, and former chairmen. In this context, a new dialogue committee is planned to be established. Sarı noted that they are not prejudiced regarding a convention and are open to discussions conducted on a legal basis.

Sarı also made assessments regarding the media. He stated that they are not satisfied with the approach of some parts of the press to the developments. “In particular, we were unable to explain the processes sufficiently to some media outlets, or they did not demonstrate sufficient responsibility. We will communicate more in the coming days to convey the issue better,” he said.

IMPORTANT MEETINGS ADDED TO THE CALENDAR

It was reported that the Party Assembly will meet on June 11, and Kılıçdaroğlu will speak at the group meeting in Parliament the same week. The disciplinary board will also meet under Kılıçdaroğlu's chairmanship. Müslim Sarı argued that they are acting according to the party's current bylaws and that it is not necessary to submit MYK members to the approval of the Party Assembly.

Regarding recent questions about Ali Öztunç, Engin Altay, and Gürsel Erol visiting both Kılıçdaroğlu and Özgür Özel, Sarı said, “There is no need to attribute different meanings to the meetings.” He also rejected claims that it is impossible to hold elections while there is an injunction for the party convention, and that otherwise, the party would not be able to enter elections. When asked about Keçiören Mayor Mesut Özarslan, who resigned from the CHP, sending flowers to the new management, he replied, “You should ask the person who sent them.”

Within the scope of the contact traffic established with deputies, it was learned that the opinions of the 111 deputies who signed for a convention have begun to be collected. Officials argued that signing does not mean thinking differently and that the process should be evaluated in an environment of sincere dialogue. It was stated that some deputies who support the party's traditional management responded to these meetings by saying, “We are in an unlawful process. What the party is going through is not right.”

Making a statement regarding the disciplinary process, Sarı stated that attitudes toward the party's corporate identity and the chairman are being monitored, but priority is given to resolving problems through dialogue mechanisms. It was stated that a priority evaluation process will be carried out in regions where new appointments will be made to the organization, and that a revisionist approach will not be displayed in duty changes.

On the other hand, regarding the discussions on whether to apply to the court to hold a convention and the appointment of a possible call committee, Sarı retorted, “Let them demand it. Do they want a trustee appointed by the AKP? Will they prefer that over a chairman who has managed the party for 13 years?”
