Ömer Çelik announced: Former AKP deputy has passed away
It has been reported that Azize Sibel Gönül, a former AKP Kocaeli deputy and former head of the Women's Branch, has passed away.
Azize Sibel Gönül, one of the former deputies of the AKP and a former head of the Headquarters Women's Branch, has lost her life.
Following Gönül's death, AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik published a message of condolence on his social media account. Çelik conveyed his condolences to Gönül's family, relatives, and the party community.
In his statement, Çelik said, "We are deeply saddened... We have lost our very valuable companion, Azize Sibel Gönül, one of our former Headquarters Women's Branch Presidents and a deputy from previous terms. We pray for God's mercy upon the deceased and extend our condolences and patience to her grieving family, relatives, and our entire community."

Born in Istanbul on August 12, 1966, Gönül graduated from the Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture. In addition to her professional career, she held various positions in politics for many years.
Having served in different levels of the party since the founding process of the AKP, Gönül served in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) as a Kocaeli Deputy during the 23rd and 24th terms. Gönül, who served as the Chair of the TBMM Committee on Equal Opportunity for Women and Men, also held the position of AKP Headquarters Women's Branch President.
Azize Sibel Gönül was the AKP's candidate for Mayor of İzmit in the March 31, 2019 local elections. Gönül was married and a mother of two.
