Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar noted that he received numerous calls and messages following his posts regarding the Istanbul No. 2 Bar Association election, drawing attention to the reactions within his party's base.
In a statement on his social media account, Tayyar argued that a strong "culture of objection" has formed within the AKP base. Tayyar stated that this sentiment has been suppressed by the love and respect felt for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, but has become visible due to the "abuse of the President's power" and increasing arbitrariness.
In his assessment regarding the "fund crisis," Tayyar claimed that the reaction is more intense within the AKP base than it is from the opposition.
Look, regarding the fund crisis, the AK Party base is angrier than the opposition. They cannot forgive those who waste their efforts.
Stating that the result from the ballot box in the Bar Association election should be read as an "objection to arbitrariness," Tayyar said that positions "are not allocated for anyone's business partner."
In his statement, Tayyar said, "No one should market their private interests under the mask of the cause. Those days are now behind us." Arguing that the "steel core" of the AKP is installing a "new software" into the party under Erdoğan's leadership, Tayyar said, "I hope they succeed."
