TKH reacts: "The Court of Cassation has registered the regime of despotism"
The Communist Movement of Turkey (TKH) harshly criticized the decision made by the Court of Cassation regarding Can Atalay in a post on its social media account.
The 3rd Criminal Chamber of the Court of Cassation reviewed the Constitutional Court's (AYM) ruling on the violation of rights concerning Can Atalay, who was elected as a deputy from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP). The Chamber decided not to comply with the ruling, stating that "the AYM's decision on the violation of rights has no legal value."
Following this development, criticisms came from many quarters.
One of the criticisms regarding the decision came from the TKH. In a post on their social media accounts, the phrase "The Court of Cassation has registered the regime of despotism" was used.
The statement made by the Communist Movement of Turkey included the following remarks:
"The Court of Cassation has registered the regime of despotism!
It has been seen once again with the second decision taken by the 3rd Chamber of the Court of Cassation for TİP deputy Can Atalay that the concept of a democratic and secular social state of law, as stated in the Constitution, is not valid for our country.
Demonstrations held in the streets in the name of the caliphate are two concrete examples of the liquidation of secularism, and the decision taken by the Court of Cassation is a concrete example of the trampling of the law. We do not expect democracy from a regime of despotism, nor a social state from this order of poverty.
Those who ignore the Constitutional Court have also shown that by ignoring the people's elected deputy, they have turned the Parliament into a symbolic institution.
No one should be fooled anymore by the 'democracy game' of this regime of despotism, where the fundamental and unchangeable provisions of the Constitution and the Parliament are ignored."
