In the 11-hour fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel, located in Bolu's famous ski resort Kartalkaya, 78 people lost their lives. Following the fire, negligence and scandals regarding the hotel continue to emerge one by one. According to Ministry of Tourism documents obtained by Cengiz Erdinç from Kisa Dalga, the hotel where the disaster occurred had lost its tourism license at least six months ago and had become "illegal." Despite this, the hotel continued to operate and had not been closed down, even though it had failed inspections.

SHARP REACTION FROM ÇÖMEZ

A statement regarding the fire disaster also came from IYI Party member Turhan Çömez. Çömez stated that the fire started around 03:00 at night, but the ministers were only informed about the incident approximately 40 minutes later. Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Health Kemal Memişoğlu, and Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan only reached the scene around noon.

Çömez claimed that on the day of the fire, Minister Ersoy went to a hotel in Ankara in the morning to exercise and drink smoothies. In a video he shared on his social media account, Çömez used the following expressions:

"In the middle of the night, exactly 78 people lost their lives amidst flames and smoke. The Council of Ministers was informed of the fire at 3:40. At 7:00 in the morning, the Minister of Tourism, who is responsible for the inspection of the hotel, put on his sportswear and went to a hotel in Ankara. He exercised and had fun. For an hour and a half, he drank his smoothies and sipped his coffee. At that time, people were burning in the hotel. Mr. Minister, is this true?"

Turhan Çömez described what Minister Ersoy did on the day of the incident as follows:

"In Bolu, at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Kartalkaya, exactly 78 people said goodbye to life in the middle of the night amidst flames and smoke. There is great negligence, great incompetence, recklessness, and inadequacy. Now the question is:

How long after the fire started did the government find out? According to the information we received, the Council of Ministers was informed at 3:40. So what is normally expected? It is expected that ministers and officials would rush to the scene of the incident, right? It is 7:00 in the morning. The Minister of Tourism, who is responsible for the inspection of this hotel, puts on his sportswear and goes to a hotel in Ankara.

He exercises and has fun at the hotel he went to. He drinks his smoothies and coffees for 1.5 hours, and while people are losing their lives in that hotel, while tiny, burnt corpses are being stacked onto the back of a truck, this Minister is exercising at the Marriott Hotel in Ankara.
