Tuzla Municipality paid 4.5 million liras to the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti during the AKP era
It has come to light that Tuzla Municipality paid 4.5 million liras to the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti during the AKP era. Following the cancellation of the protocol during the CHP administration, Tuzla Mayor Eren Ali Bingöl announced that they would take initiatives to build a new dormitory.
It has been revealed that Tuzla Municipality paid 4.5 million liras to the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti during the AKP era.
Tuzla Municipality, which passed from the AKP to the CHP following the March 31 local elections, had requested that the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti vacate the buildings.
The cost of the leasing arrangement, which was carried out using public resources, has also emerged.
According to a report by Birgün, Tuzla Mayor Lawyer Eren Ali Bingöl announced that 4.5 million liras were paid from the municipal budget for two buildings that had been allocated to the society for approximately 10 years.
The statement came from the "Tuzla is Yours" workshop, which Eren Ali Bingöl attended with young people in Tuzla.
Responding to questions from university students regarding housing and dormitory issues for students across the country, Eren Ali Bingöl also stated that the municipality would take initiatives to build a new dormitory.
Speaking at the Youth Meeting, Eren Ali Bingöl said the following:
“When we took office, we realized this: Tuzla Municipality had been renting two separate buildings for years by paying a total of 4.5 million liras to a foundation and handing them over to that foundation. The municipality pays the money on your behalf, on behalf of all residents of Tuzla, but Tuzla Municipality has no role in its management. We have canceled this protocol with the İlim Yayma Cemiyeti. We had already reached the end of the lease agreement for the areas we were renting. We said that we are stopping the lease agreements as well. We are no longer paying rent. Now we are looking for a dormitory. We are developing land to build a new dormitory.”
“THAT DORMITORY SHOULD BE MANAGED BY TUZLA MUNICIPALITY”
“It is a very sad thing; you are studying in Tuzla now. Your municipality pays the rent for a foundation or society. But you cannot apply to that foundation and benefit from that dormitory. Therefore, that dormitory should be managed by Tuzla Municipality.”
CAMERA RECORDINGS HAD BEEN DELETED
It had been announced that Tuzla Municipality, which passed to the CHP after the local elections, had a debt of over 950 billion TL. It was also revealed that security camera recordings from the AKP era were deleted immediately after the election.
