Ümit Özdağ comments on the release of Dilan and Engin Polat: I know how they got out
Regarding the release of 28 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, who are being tried on charges of money laundering and tax evasion, Zafer Party leader Ümit Özdağ said, 'I know how they got out of prison, unfortunately, I cannot write it.'
The court has issued a release decision in the case of 28 defendants, including Dilan and Engin Polat, who are being tried on charges of money laundering and tax evasion.
In the case where Engin Polat faces up to 40 years in prison for three separate charges, the court ended the detention of Engin Polat, Sezgin Polat, Alper Kürşat Polat, and accountant Ahmet Gün.
It was decided that the trial would continue without detention, with a travel ban imposed on the defendants.
'I KNOW HOW THEY GOT OUT'
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ reacted to the decision. In a post on his social media account regarding the release, Özdağ stated, "I know how they got out of prison, unfortunately, I cannot write it," and criticized the vulgar display of wealth possessed by Dilan and Engin Polat.
'THE VULGAR WEALTH YOU LIVE SO SHAMELESSLY'
Özdağ said, "In a country where 85-year-old women try to pay their rent by selling tissues, you, your husband, and your likes represent both the spirit of the times and the disgrace of the era with your unearned and shamelessly lived vulgar wealth."
Addressing young people in the remainder of his statement, Özdağ emphasized that the Polat couple are bad role models and that young people should take their families, who struggle for life with dignity, as examples. Özdağ stated, "Dear young people, there is nothing about these people to emulate. Your mothers and fathers, who go to work with honor every morning and struggle to provide for their homes, are the real examples. Take those who earn with their labor and intellect as your examples."
