Ministry responds to green passport request
Responding to a parliamentary question from CHP's Ali Karaoba, Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi pointed to the current passport legislation.
The demand for special stamped passports, known in the public as "green passports," for the relatives of martyrs and veterans has been brought to the parliamentary agenda. CHP Uşak Deputy Ali Karaoba asked Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi whether any legislative work is being carried out to grant green passports to these groups.
Responding to Karaoba's parliamentary question, Minister Çiftçi referred to existing regulations in his statement. Çiftçi stated that special stamped passports are issued under Article 14/A of the Passport Law No. 5682 to civil servants and other public officials in first, second, and third-degree positions, as well as to retirees who meet certain conditions.
Minister Çiftçi also drew attention to the conditions in the current legislation for individuals receiving war or duty disability pensions, as well as their spouses and children. Çiftçi stated that individuals whose ranks are upgraded under the Additional Article 77 of the Republic of Turkey Pension Fund Law No. 5434 can apply if they meet the conditions in Law No. 5682.
The response noted that the requests for special stamped passports from these individuals are fulfilled if they apply with a document obtained from the Social Security Institution Presidency or provincial social security directorates.
The green passport is known as a type of passport granted primarily to public personnel and certain other groups, providing visa-free travel to more than 160 countries worldwide.
