Annular solar eclipse observed from different regions
The annular solar eclipse, which creates a "ring of fire" around the Sun, was captured in the Tatacoa Desert, a tourist region in Colombia.
In the Tatacoa Desert, where many people gathered to watch the solar eclipse, eclipse glasses and telescopes were used.
The annular solar eclipse was followed with interest in many cities, including the capital, Bogota.
NASA HAD ANNOUNCED IT WOULD STUDY IT CLOSELY
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) had announced that three sounding rockets would be launched during the eclipse to study how the reduction in sunlight affects the Earth's atmospheric layer known as the "ionosphere."
The next annular solar eclipse is expected to occur in 2046.
