Apple's camera-equipped AirPods plan back in the spotlight with video found in macOS Tahoe code

Apple's camera-equipped AirPods model, which has not yet been officially introduced, has returned to the agenda with a demo video reportedly included in the macOS Tahoe 26.7 RC version. The leak, shared by a user named @aaronp613 who examined the software code, is considered one of the clearest signs yet that the headphones will work with a "Visual Intelligence" feature.

In the shared video, it is reported that Siri introduces the new function and uses the phrases, "With Visual Intelligence, your world becomes recordable. See something you like? Just tell me to remember it for later." This narrative suggests that the headphones may have been designed with a system capable of perceiving objects or moments the user sees in order to remind them later.

The external design of the AirPods Pro-like model in the leaked images largely resembles existing headphones. It is estimated that the camera or visual scanning sensors may be hidden in the lower end section where the microphone is located. This placement also brings up the question of whether the sensors will be blocked by hair or the usage position.

Although it is stated that the leak indicates the product may have reached an advanced stage in the development process, this does not mean it will go on sale in the short term. While there is talk of the possibility that Apple might introduce the camera-equipped AirPods at the iPhone 18 event expected to be held on September 9, it is also considered that the references in the macOS Tahoe code could point to a later announcement.
