Sales of Apple Watch resume! Why was the ban decision paused?
Sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 models had been banned in the US. However, the decision has been temporarily stayed. Sales have resumed.
Apple recently introduced its new generation of watches. Masimo, which has been involved in ongoing patent disputes and controversies with Apple for some time, had this time caused the sales of Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 models to be halted in the country.
Following the ban in the US, Apple took the process to appeal. The appeals court concluded that Apple could continue to sell the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 models. However, the final decision will be made by the US International Trade Commission. Nevertheless, the resumption of sales in the US for the smartwatches, which had stopped selling on December 24, can be viewed positively.
The deadline set here was recorded as January 10, 2024.
WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE?
Apple had decided to stop sales of its two smartwatches in the US this week.
Reportedly, Apple Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 models were removed from online sales on December 21. On December 24, they were also removed from Apple Stores specifically in the US.
Medical device company Masimo has been claiming for some time that Apple is infringing on its patents. Masimo, which initiated the legal process on the matter, has been pursuing this since 2020. According to the company, Apple has been committing certain patent infringements since the Watch Series 6.

About 2 months ago, the US International Trade Commission intervened and imposed a ban on Apple Watch models.
One of the disputes between Masimo and Apple is that the Apple Watch's blood oxygen sensor is actually under a Masimo patent. It was reported that some patents like this, obtained by Masimo, were used by Apple without authorization, and therefore the devices in question should be removed from use.
The US International Trade Commission conducted an investigation and determined that Apple had infringed on 2 alleged patents. These infringements, centered on the blood oxygen measurement feature, caused Apple Watches to be removed from sale for a period of time.
