Buying a smartphone is becoming more difficult every day. Due to the taxes imposed, the prices of premium smartphones are reaching very high amounts. For this reason, many people bring the phones they want from abroad. To prevent this, hikes are being applied to IMEI fees.

IMEI FEE TO INCREASE INCREDIBLY

It appears that the IMEI fee required to use phones brought from abroad in Turkey will be 31,692 TL in 2024.

The fee, which had previously risen to the 20,000 TL level with a prior decision, had drawn backlash.

According to a post made by well-known tax expert Ozan Bingöl, the Revaluation Rate for 2023 was 58.46 percent. Based on this calculation, the IMEI fee to be charged for phones brought from abroad for personal use in 2024 will rise from 20,000 TL to 31,692 TL.

Bingöl states that not only IMEI fees, but also vehicle inspection fees for a car will rise from 1,149.60 TL to 1,821.66 TL. The lowest speeding ticket will rise from 951 TL to 1,506.95 TL.
