Can artificial intelligence diagnose diseases from eye fluid?
A new artificial intelligence developed by scientists at Stanford University will be able to diagnose human diseases through eye fluid.
A new artificial intelligence developed by scientists at Stanford University will be able to diagnose human diseases through eye fluid.
This AI, which focuses on eye fluid, can be used to diagnose diabetes-related eye conditions and even Parkinson's disease.
EYE FLUID HELPED DETECT CERTAIN DISEASES
According to Vinit Mahajan, the leader of the researchers in the study featured on Donanımhaber, the eye provides real-time data for detecting diseases in the body. The AI working on this analyzed 26 out of nearly 6,000 proteins found in eye fluid.
The analysis enabled the calculation of the molecular age of the eye fluid.
According to the scientists, there is a very clear link between the molecular age of eye fluid and diseases. For example, if a person is diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, the molecular age of that patient's eye fluid was found to be 30 years older than it should be. Moreover, according to experts, signs of aging begin to manifest themselves long before a disease diagnosis is made. Scientists believe that with the technique they have developed, they will be able to bring early diagnosis to the forefront much more effectively.
