ChatGPT to get restaurant reservation feature: Initially available in the US and Canada

OpenAI has announced a new integration that will expand the use cases for ChatGPT. Thanks to the collaboration developed by the company with Yelp, users will be able to make restaurant reservations and access waitlist options without leaving the ChatGPT chat.

The partnership with Yelp previously enabled the display of information such as local business recommendations, user reviews, photos, and ratings within ChatGPT. With this new step, ChatGPT will go beyond the function of merely searching for restaurants and offering recommendations to also facilitate the table booking process.

However, not all stages of the reservation process will be completed within ChatGPT. If a change in time, an update to the number of people, or a cancellation is required for a reservation made, users will need to perform these actions via Yelp.

OpenAI's restaurant reservation move is not limited to Yelp. The company announced that it has also established partnerships for similar integrations with other platforms in the sector, including Resy and OpenTable.

The new features will initially cover restaurants in the US and Canada. Therefore, the restaurant reservation feature via ChatGPT is not expected to be made available in Turkey in the short term.
