China launches "Tianhui-5" Earth observation satellite
China has sent the multi-purpose Earth observation satellite "Tianhui-5" into space.
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, the satellite was launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in the country's northern Shanxi province using a Long March 6 rocket.
Following the launch, the satellite successfully entered its planned orbit and will be used for geographic mapping, land resource monitoring, scientific experiments, and other tasks.
The launch marked the 494th transport mission carried out by Long March rockets.
There are currently 10 Tianhui satellites, whose name means "drawing the heavens" in Chinese, in orbit.
