Israel in talks with SpaceX for satellite internet
Israel has begun negotiations with SpaceX, the company owned by U.S. billionaire Elon Musk, for the use of its Starlink satellite internet system.
The Israeli Ministry of Communications announced that it is in talks with SpaceX regarding the use of the Starlink satellite internet system.
The statement, which confirmed that negotiations have begun, noted that this step aims to provide uninterrupted internet service to towns around the Gaza border and to conflict zones.
The statement further indicated that this would be the first time Israel has turned to Starlink, which would serve as a backup in the event that other systems fail.
According to a Bloomberg report, the company has not yet accepted Israel's request and has not commented on the ministry's statement.
As the Israeli military continues its heavy buildup along the Gaza border, reports suggesting that a potential ground operation is "nearing" have appeared in both local and international media.
Israel is concerned about developments that could affect internet services in such a scenario.
