Date set for Apple's AirPods with camera
Despite recent leaks, plans for Apple's AI-powered AirPods model with a camera are reportedly still targeting a 2027 release.
The wait continues for Apple's new AirPods model equipped with camera hardware. It has been stated that the headphones, which are expected to strengthen the company's position in the field of AI-powered wearable devices, are planned for release in 2027 despite recent leaks.
According to information reported by Bloomberg, Apple has been putting the product through advanced internal testing for some time. Although there was talk that the headphones could be introduced earlier this year, it was stated that the production schedule was delayed due to issues on the supply chain and software side.
The development that fueled discussions regarding the product occurred this week. In a developer version of a Mac computer software update, images of some of Apple's expected upcoming products and a video said to show the operation of AirPods cameras emerged.
The video, first published by MacRumors, was noted to support previous claims that the headphones would work in conjunction with Apple's "Visual Intelligence" feature. This feature is said to aim to analyze real-world objects through cameras and take action accordingly.
The leak, which came ahead of the iPhone event Apple is expected to hold in September, increased speculation that the introduction of the new AirPods might be near. However, sources speaking to Bloomberg reported that the company is maintaining its 2027 schedule for the camera-equipped headphones.
There has been no official announcement from Apple regarding the product. Therefore, details such as the device's final name, technical specifications, price, and the countries where it will go on sale have not yet been clarified.
