Digital drudgery is decreasing thanks to artificial intelligence

Microsoft Turkey General Manager Levent Özbilgin stated that artificial intelligence applications provide significant contributions to the industry, finance, healthcare, education, and retail sectors, in addition to content production and marketing activities.

Emphasizing that these applications provide a cost advantage in industry while transforming marketing into a stronger element in retail, Özbilgin said, "I believe that in the near future, there will be no sector that does not benefit from the blessings of artificial intelligence."

Özbilgin expressed that Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also believes that with next-generation artificial intelligence, tasks described as "drudgery" will disappear, opening up space for creativity, and spoke as follows:

"Minimizing drudgery can be interpreted as a direct cost advantage. Artificial intelligence-based tools offer a great opportunity in terms of reducing digital workload, increasing artificial intelligence capabilities, and enabling teams to work more efficiently."

Pointing out that employees are forced to deal with many tasks described as "digital drudgery" and that the volume of emails and correspondence has reached an unmanageable size, Özbilgin assessed, "Every minute we spend trying to cope with this digital workload steals time that we could spend on creative work."

Pointing to research, Özbilgin explained that 64 percent of employees do not have the time and energy to complete their work, and they also struggle with being innovative and thinking strategically. Özbilgin stated that employees working on Microsoft 365 spend 57 percent of their time communicating, and only 43 percent on creative work.

Emphasizing that the relief brought by the reduction of workload for employees outweighs the fear of losing their jobs, Özbilgin noted the following:

"Managers are using artificial intelligence not to replace employees, but to empower them. While 49 percent of employees worry that artificial intelligence might take their jobs, 70 percent are lightening their own workload by having artificial intelligence do as much work as possible. Managers see artificial intelligence as a valuable tool that contributes to increasing productivity in the workplace, not to reducing the number of employees."

EVERY EMPLOYEE NEEDS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SKILLS

Stating that in the near future, there will be a need for every employee, not just artificial intelligence experts, to acquire new competencies similar to those possessed by artificial intelligence engineers, Özbilgin expressed that according to the 2023 Work Trend Index report, 82 percent of business leaders think that it will become mandatory for employees to gain new competencies in the age of artificial intelligence.

Providing information that as of March 2023, jobs related to ChatGPT on LinkedIn US increased by 79 percent compared to last year, Özbilgin said, "This new set of skills and job demands shaped around artificial intelligence is expected to be effective in every field, from resumes to job postings."

Stating that the greatest success of next-generation artificial intelligence is that it enables manual tasks that take up time every day to be done faster, more efficiently, and automatically, Özbilgin said:

"The success of artificial intelligence is that it helps us as employees to be more creative in the remaining time, to specialize in the fields we work in, and to focus on innovative work that creates added value. I believe an exciting period awaits us where new innovations, initiatives, and investments will sprout."

24 TRILLION SECURITY SIGNALS SCANNED

Stating that Microsoft provides cybersecurity for 650 thousand organizations in 120 countries, Özbilgin said, "With a team of 8 thousand 500 people worldwide, we protect our customers against cyber threats in many different categories, primarily 'identity theft'. The budget we have allocated to develop advanced security tools in the last 5 years is over approximately 20 billion dollars."

Providing information that they scanned 24 trillion security signals per day globally in the 2000-2021 period, Özbilgin explained that when any anomaly is seen on the system, the necessary precaution is taken immediately.

Giving advice to users and businesses regarding security, Özbilgin noted the following:

"Security settings should be maximized to protect the 'Inbox', multi-factor authentication applications should be used, employees should be trained to understand warning indicators, and when performing financial transactions (such as money transfers), the confirmation stage should be carried out by phone."
