Djibouti launches its first domestic satellite into space

Djibouti's Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilyas M. Dawaleh, announced that the first satellite produced in the country was successfully launched into space by the American spacecraft and rocket manufacturer SpaceX.

Dawaleh stated that the nano-satellite, produced by Djiboutian scientists, demonstrates the country's commitment to technological advancement.

The local satellite, named "Djibouti 1A," will be able to observe numerous environmental changes across the country, ranging from temperatures and precipitation to river levels and terrain.

In January, Djibouti signed a 1 billion dollar agreement with the Hong Kong Aerospace Technology Group to bring rocket and satellite launch technology to the country.
