Google has launched a new tool to prevent the circulation of misinformation or fake content on the internet. This new tool, called Fact Check Explorer, is offered for free. Working like a verification service, this tool offers journalists and fact-checkers a way to obtain deeper information about an image or a topic.

This online verification tool offered by Google utilizes the fact-check markup feature it provides to publishers. For example, if the New York Times website has performed a fact-check on a claim, the markup feature helps make that fact-check more visible to Google.

When this fact-check tool is opened, one encounters a page that resembles the standard Google search engine. Here, one can directly access a list of the most recently verified content. The convenience here is being able to access verified claims, especially news, in a list format.

For example, when we type in the claim 'Is the Earth flat?', which has been debated for years but the reason for the debate is often misunderstood, the claims and the scientific rebuttals against them appear directly.

According to an Instagram user, the comment 'The Earth is flat' was made. However, according to the proven verification, the comment appears as follows: 'We have numerous pieces of evidence dating back thousands of years that the Earth is roughly spherical.'

On the other hand, the claim put forward on social media that 'If the Earth were a sphere, radar technology would not work' is clarified.
