New feature for content creators on YouTube: comment freezing
Many new features are being announced for YouTube, and this one is aimed directly at content creators.
A new option has been introduced for content creators on YouTube. Called comment freezing, this feature allows channel owners to prevent further comments from being posted on specific videos. Due to their content, some videos can be subject to what is known in internet slang as 'lynching'.
YouTube wants to prevent such attacks and similar hostile comments from being posted under videos.
The feature, which Google has been testing for YouTube for some time, has been made available to users after receiving positive feedback during the trial phase.
If comment freezing is enabled on any video, viewers watching the video will be notified of this.
