OpenAI responds to lawsuit filed by The New York Times

While debates continue regarding how ChatGPT is trained, the NYT had filed a copyright infringement lawsuit. In this lawsuit filed against OpenAI, it was alleged that the newspaper's content was used without permission to train ChatGPT. However, according to OpenAI, there is no issue in this situation.

ACCORDING TO OPENAI, THIS IS NOT AN INFRINGEMENT

Regarding the lawsuit filed against the GPT language model, which is used by Microsoft Copilot in addition to OpenAI's ChatGPT, OpenAI believes that nothing wrong has been done.

The company's views on the matter were also explained in a blog post. Arguing that New York Times content is published publicly and has now become common knowledge, OpenAI believes there is no problem in training artificial intelligence models with these articles.

According to the company, there is no need to make payments for data that everyone can access for free on the internet.
