The iPad mini 8, expected to be the newest member of Apple's compact tablet series, has come to the fore with hardware and pricing rumors ahead of its launch. According to information shared by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the new model will come with more powerful components compared to the current generation, but these upgrades will also be reflected in the price tag.
According to the claims, one of the most notable changes in the iPad mini 8 will be the transition to an OLED panel. This choice could mean a significant improvement over previous iPad mini models, especially in terms of contrast, black levels, and media consumption.
It is suggested that Apple's A20 Pro chip will be used in the new tablet. Sources indicate that this processor will be the same chip used in the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo models. On the RAM side, there is an expectation of 12 GB of LPDDR5X memory instead of the 8 GB found in the iPad mini 7.
EXPECTATION OF A PRICE INCREASE
According to Gurman's post, Apple also plans to change the position of the FaceTime camera in the new iPad mini. Additionally, the device's speaker system is expected to be renewed. These changes mean a more up-to-date hardware package for users who prefer small-screen iPads.
However, the main debate is centered on the price. The starting price of the current iPad mini 7 was at the 599 dollar level. It is claimed that the new iPad mini 8 could go on sale for approximately 799 dollars. This represents a 200 dollar increase in the entry-level price.
It is stated that the rise in DRAM and storage costs may be effective in the price increase. Nevertheless, it is considered that the 799 dollar level for the base model, which does not have cellular connectivity support, could make the upgrade decision difficult for users.
It is stated that Apple is expected to introduce the new iPad mini model at an event expected to be held this month. Since no official announcement has been made, the technical specifications and pricing information remain speculative for now.
