'Privacy-focused' feature on the way for Google Maps
A new privacy-focused feature is coming for active Google Maps users.
The newly announced feature for Google Maps will prevent certain locations from being recorded. Accordingly, selected sensitive location data can be kept away from the cloud, meaning it will be stored only on phones.
With the update coming to the application next year, some preferences regarding Timeline data will be under the user's control.
Timeline keeps a record of locations visited by the user and tourist spots, even if encrypted, and reports them to Google's servers.
In addition to this, location histories will no longer be kept for 18 months; they will be deleted within 3 months.
