Subscription option to be offered for ad-free access to Facebook and Instagram in Europe
Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, has announced that it will offer a monthly subscription option to users in Europe for ad-free access to Facebook and Instagram.
In a statement from Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, it was reported that a new subscription option will be offered in the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area, and Switzerland in order to comply with European regulations.
The statement noted that starting in November, Facebook or Instagram users in these regions will be provided with the options to either continue using personalized services for free with ads or to subscribe to block ads.
MONTHLY FEE ANNOUNCED
The statement, which indicated that users' information will not be used for advertising if they subscribe, noted that the subscription fee will be 9.99 euros per month via the web or 12.99 euros per month via iOS and Android mobile operating systems.
