The winner of the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, known as the Nobel Prize in Economics, has been announced.

According to the announcement from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the committee awarded the 2023 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to American economist Claudia Goldin.

CONDUCTED RESEARCH ON INEQUALITY

The 77-year-old Goldin's research on inequality and women's participation in employment played a significant role in her receiving this year's award. Goldin, an expert in labor economics, became the third woman to win the prize, which has been awarded in the field of economics since 1969.

Last year, the prize was awarded to American economists Ben S. Bernanke, Douglas W. Diamond, and Philip H. Dybvig for their research on "banks and financial crises."
