Aitana Bonmati wins the Women's Ballon d'Or
The Ballon d'Or, awarded to the footballer of the year, went to Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati in the women's category this year.
The Ballon d'Or, awarded to the footballer of the year, was won by Aitana Bonmati in the women's category.
The award, presented by France Football magazine since 1956, found its recipient at a ceremony held at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris, France.
The ceremony was hosted by Sandy Heribert and former footballer Didier Drogba, who once played for Galatasaray.
The award for the best female footballer was given to Spain national team and Barcelona star Aitana Bonmati. The Ballon d'Or in the men's category went to Argentine footballer Lionel Messi.
The Gerd Müller Trophy, awarded to the striker of the year, went to Norway's Erling Haaland for his performance at Manchester City.
The Club of the Year award went to Manchester City in the men's category, and to Barcelona in the women's category, following their success in the Spanish League and the UEFA Women's Champions League last season.
