Another resignation at the TFF

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Board Member Mevlüt Aktan has announced his resignation from his post. In a statement shared on his social media account, Aktan did not only announce his own departure but also called on the current TFF administration to resign.

In his statement, Aktan expressed his view that the federation's management has failed to demonstrate the necessary "knowledge, experience, vision, and organizational competence." He argued that all units of the TFF must be restructured based on merit, transparency, and accountability.

Stating that the promises made to delegates at the general assembly have not been fulfilled, Aktan noted that the regulations expected by clubs to increase the brand value of Turkish football have not been implemented. Aktan recorded that his efforts in this direction did not find support within the administration.

A structure where decisions are made within a narrow circle, where no space is provided for different opinions, and where an 'I know best, what I say goes' mentality prevails cannot move Turkish football forward. The Turkish Football Federation cannot be managed with a family business mentality.

— Mevlüt Aktan

Touching upon the general climate in football in his statement, Aktan noted that rhetoric creating tension, betting controversies, and allegations of irregularities have damaged trust. Emphasizing that it is necessary to prevent irregularities, Aktan argued that exposing individuals through press statements before judicial processes are completed could harm clubs and football workers.

Stating that he has opposed decisions he found wrong within the administration for two years, Aktan expressed that there is no longer any possibility to continue the struggle within the institution. Aktan said, "I am of the opinion that the current administration has become dysfunctional, and I call on the administration to resign."

Calling on all general assembly members to initiate an extraordinary elective general assembly process, Aktan stated that paving the way for a new administration would be the most responsible decision for Turkish football.
