Footballer Chinedu Ozor, declared dead in Nigeria, shows signs of life in the morgue

Chinedu Ozor, a new signing for the Nigerian Premier League side Katsina United, has become the center of an incident that has shaken the football world following a medical emergency during a pre-season friendly match.

The 28-year-old defender lost consciousness and collapsed in the opening minutes of the friendly match against Niger Tornadoes, receiving initial treatment on the pitch. Ozor was subsequently rushed to the nearest hospital.

It was reported that after treatment at the hospital, doctors declared the footballer dead, and after a police report was obtained for funeral and autopsy procedures, the player was transferred to the Katsina General Hospital morgue. It was stated that morgue staff also confirmed the death diagnosis in the initial stage.

Following the spread of the news of Ozor's passing, Katsina United published a condolence message on their social media account. The Nigeria Premier Football League management and the player's former clubs, Kano Pillars, Rivers United, and Heartland, also shared messages of condolence.

However, an unexpected development occurred during funeral preparations. It was noticed that Ozor, who had been placed on the autopsy table, moved his hand and showed slight signs of life. Following this, medical staff transferred the footballer back to the emergency department and then to the intensive care unit.

Following the incident, his former club Heartland announced that reliable sources confirmed Ozor was removed from the morgue and taken to the hospital after showing signs of movement. The statement indicated that the player is on oxygen support and that doctors are making intense efforts to save his life.

It was reported that the treatment of Chinedu Ozor, who joined the Katsina United squad at the beginning of August, is continuing at Katsina General Hospital and that his health condition remains serious.
