Head wrestler Serhat Elvan attacked at gas station: He has filed a complaint
Head wrestler Serhat Elvan, who was on his way to the wrestling matches in Samsun's Vezirköprü district, was attacked at a gas station where he had stopped for a break.
Tokat-based head wrestler Serhat Elvan, who was traveling to the district to participate in the 20th Samsun Vezirköprü Kunduz Wrestling, the 6th stage of the Turkish Oil Wrestling League, was attacked at a gas station where he had stopped for a break.
The incident occurred on Saturday, August 8, at around 10:00 AM at a gas station. It was stated that while Elvan was sitting alone at the station, former head wrestler Şaban Y., who allegedly had been following him, arrived at the station along with his nephews Ö.Y. and E.Y.

According to allegations, the argument that started between Şaban Y. and Serhat Elvan escalated quickly. It was reported that Şaban Y. and his companions Ö.Y. and E.Y. attacked Elvan, and the fight was ended when bystanders intervened. Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area.

ELVAN: THEY HIT ME WHEN I TURNED MY HEAD
Describing what he experienced, Serhat Elvan said he stopped at the station to drink coffee when he was close to the Vezirköprü wrestling arena. Elvan stated that he was talking to his wife on the phone at the time, and that former head wrestler Şaban Y. approached him.
Regarding the reason for the incident, Elvan said: "While I was talking to my wife, he told me to 'apologize.' I asked, 'For what?' He wanted me to apologize for a post I had shared. I told him there was no problem with the post I shared and nothing to apologize for. At that moment, when 2 more people arrived, I heard the sound of a chair. The moment I turned my head, Şaban Y. and his nephews hit me."

Stating that he went to the wrestling matches in Vezirköprü with the goal of collecting points and winning first place, Elvan said the attack deeply affected him. Expressing that his injury had healed and he was preparing for the organization, Elvan said, "They used violence against me. This really hurt me deeply."
Elvan stated that the argument was linked to a social media post he had made previously. Saying that there was no ill intent in the post he made during the period he wanted to terminate his affiliation with ASKİ Spor, Elvan expressed that he was thanking the club and the names who supported him, but that Şaban Y. took the matter personally because his name was not included in the post.
Stating that he went to Vezirköprü State Hospital after the incident, Elvan said he then went to the District Police Department and filed a complaint. It was learned that after the complaint, the suspects gave their statements at the police station and were subsequently released.
