FIFA President Gianni Infantino has come to the fore with new allegations regarding his time as UEFA General Secretary. A report by the British newspaper The Telegraph claims that Infantino had a relationship with a young woman working within UEFA. The Infantino camp has categorically denied the allegations.

According to the report, the employee in question received a promotion and a 30 percent salary increase during the period when the alleged relationship took place. The Telegraph wrote that these developments occurred during Infantino's tenure as a senior executive at UEFA.

The allegations did not stop there. It was claimed that the employee later left UEFA, received a six-figure payment upon her departure, and that the costs of an MBA program at a local business school were also covered by UEFA.

UEFA confirmed that a departure payment was made to the person in question and that the MBA tuition fees were covered. The organization stated that these payments were in accordance with the employee regulations in effect at that time. It was also noted that the rules regarding employee departures have been tightened since 2016.

In a statement made through a FIFA spokesperson, it was stated that Infantino strongly denies the allegations. The statement noted that the allegations in question are “absolutely untrue” and that any implications of inappropriate behavior or any violation of regulations are rejected.

FIFA also maintained that there have been no employee complaints regarding Infantino's conduct within UEFA or FIFA.
