The managerial change at Fenerbahçe, which began following the Galatasaray derby, has been made official. The yellow-navy club announced that after accepting the resignation of İsmail Kartal, the Football A Team has been entrusted to Dirk Kuyt until a new head coach is determined.
In the 9th week of the Süper Lig, after losing 2-1 away to Galatasaray, Kartal decided to step down from his position following the match. Although the management held talks to persuade the experienced coach to reconsider his decision, the process resulted in a departure.
SEARCH FOR A NEW HEAD COACH CONTINUES
While it is stated that the club is continuing its efforts to find a permanent head coach, names such as Vincenzo Montella, José Luis Mendilibar, and Antonio Conte have appeared in media reports. However, no official statement has been made by the yellow-navy club regarding these names.
Dirk Kuyt is planned to remain in charge of the team until the new head coach takes office. The Dutch coach is expected to be on the bench for the Göztepe match to be played on October 31.
İsmail Kartal was appointed as the head coach of Fenerbahçe for the fourth time on June 18, 2026. In his final tenure, Kartal appeared in 18 official matches, recording 9 wins, 5 draws, and 4 losses. With the derby defeat, Fenerbahçe has fallen 6 points behind the top of the table and dropped to 5th place in the league.
