UEFA penalty for Galatasaray
The UEFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed a spectator ban on Galatasaray for the away leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool.
In a statement regarding the matter, the club said, "Due to fan incidents during our UEFA Champions League match played away against Juventus on 25.02.2026, the UEFA Disciplinary Committee has decided to impose a 40 thousand Euro fine on our club and a sanction of playing the next away match behind closed doors. An appeal will be filed against this decision with the UEFA Appeals Body."
Galatasaray will face English side Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday, March 10 in Istanbul, and on Wednesday, March 18 in England. With this penalty, the yellow-red fans will not be able to take their places in the stands for the away match.
