Trabzon to be promoted in Europe and the Far East
Offering many alternatives for sea, highland, gastronomy, sports, and mountain tourism, Trabzon has been receiving a high number of tourists from Gulf countries in recent years. Trabzon Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Tamer Erdoğan announced that Trabzon will be promoted in many places from Europe to the Far East.
With its natural beauty, historical and cultural assets, Trabzon remains a destination for domestic and foreign tourists throughout all four seasons, offering many alternatives for sea, highland, gastronomy, sports, and mountain tourism.
Increasing its tourism potential every year, Trabzon hosted 652 thousand 713 foreign tourists in the first 9 months of the year, a 66 percent increase compared to the same period last year, and 486 thousand 30 domestic tourists, a 20 percent increase.
The country sending the most visitors to Trabzon was Saudi Arabia with 269 thousand 216 people, followed by Oman in second place with 58 thousand 397, Kuwait in third with 41 thousand 809, and the United Arab Emirates in fourth with 41 thousand 598 people.
In the ranking where Jordan was fifth with 33 thousand 886 visitors, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Bahrain, and Russia were among the countries from which the most tourists arrived in the city.
'A 43 PERCENT INCREASE WAS EXPERIENCED'
Trabzon Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Tamer Erdoğan told an AA reporter that there has been intense interest from tourists from Gulf countries in Trabzon in recent years.
Pointing out that the city's tourism potential is increasing, Erdoğan said, "The number of visitors in 9 months reached 1 million 138 thousand 743, an increase of 43 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. We believe that this potential will continue to increase with our goal of 12-month tourism and tourism in every season. We aim to close this year with much better figures compared to the previous year."
Stating that their expectations from tourism for the coming year are even higher, Erdoğan continued as follows:
"With the support of our Ministry and the Turkey Tourism Promotion and Development Agency, and in cooperation with our Governorship and Provincial Promotion and Development Board, as the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, we want to promote our province in our existing markets in the Gulf countries, as well as in European countries, China, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, Iran, Central Asia, and the Turkic republics, and be the pioneers in ensuring that tourists from these regions come to our province in large numbers. In addition, we will carry out an effective promotion campaign targeting Serbia, Poland, Hungary, and Greece to increase tourism diversity and the variety of target market countries."
