Study: Chocolate makes middle-aged women happy
According to a scientific study conducted in Japan, consuming chocolate helps middle-aged women feel happy and enjoy life.
The amount of antioxidants in cocoa beans prevents cell damage that disrupts hormones and brain signals.
These antioxidants are found more in the dark versions of cocoa used in chocolate production.
In the study, 60 healthy women between the ages of 40 and 60 were given a cocoa-based drink and a drink that tasted like chocolate but contained no cocoa.
WOMEN'S MOODS ANALYZED
At the end of 2 months, it was observed that the mood of those who drank the cocoa-based drink was better. These participants also stated that they felt friendlier and more energetic.
'REDUCES DEPRESSION'
Researcher Professor Masakazu Terauchi stated about the study, "Our results show that cocoa extract reduces depression, fatigue, and anxiety in middle-aged women and improves positive mood."
According to the study conducted by Tokyo Medical and Dental University, cocoa is a beneficial food that can improve the mood of middle-aged women.
