At the AKM, where the exhibition has become a tradition, the first year featured mixed works and the second year featured works by female artists; this year, the 'Süs' (Ornament) exhibition reflects the perspective of male artists.

Thirteen artists from different disciplines, ranging from painting and sculpture to textile weaving and installation, will present the concept of ornamentation through the language of art, showcasing its profound traces in women's lives with 31 different works.

Ornamentation is a complex concept that has been shaped by socio-cultural factors from prehistoric times to the present day, touching upon the lifestyles of humanity.

Carrying many meanings, from the representation of social status to the transmission of cultures, ornamentation was born out of the human need to change their environment throughout history. The positive and negative aspects of this concept manifest themselves in different fields such as art, daily life, beliefs, and architecture.

TALKS TO BE HELD

In addition to the exhibition, a talk program will be held every Friday between March 8 and March 31 inside the AKM library with the participation of female artists.

The first talk will be moderated by Günseli Kato, featuring art historian and critic Nilgün Yüksel, who will discuss the concept of 'ornamentation'.

The 'Süs' exhibition, which includes works by Mahmut Karatoprak, Haydar Akdağ, Mahmut Aydın, Süleyman Saim Tekcan, Taner Yılmaz, İskender Giray, Celaleddin Çelik, Bahadır Çolak, Devabil Kara, Egemen Kemal Vuruşan, Bilal Hakan Karakaya, Kadir Akyol, and Mahir Güven, awaits its visitors free of charge at the AKM Gallery.
