Turkey to experience two seasons at once: Spring for the west, winter for the east

According to the latest weather forecast report published by the General Directorate of Meteorology, climate conditions in different regions of Turkey will follow a contrasting path. Temperatures in the central and western parts of the country will rise by up to 7 degrees, bringing spring weather. However, during the same period, temperature drops of up to 8 degrees are expected in the eastern regions of Turkey. This situation will lead to winter and spring conditions being experienced simultaneously in different parts of the country.

TWO DIFFERENT SEASONS AT ONCE

According to meteorological data, temperatures in the northwest of Turkey will rise by 4 to 7 degrees, increasing the effect of spring weather. Citizens in these regions will enjoy sunny days. However, in the south of Central Anatolia, the eastern regions, and the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea, thermometers will suddenly drop by 4 to 8 degrees. This sharp temperature change will force the local population to be prepared for challenging weather conditions.

SNOWFALL EXPECTED IN EASTERN ANATOLIA AND EASTERN BLACK SEA

Sleet and, in some places, snowfall are expected in the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the northeast of Eastern Anatolia. The thickening of the snow cover, especially in high-altitude areas, and the return of winter conditions will affect citizens living in these regions. While sunny weather prevails in the west, snowfall and storms will show their effect in the east.

METEOROLOGY ISSUES ALARM FOR 16 PROVINCES

The Meteorological Service has issued warnings regarding severe weather events in 16 provinces. Locally very heavy rainfall is expected in the surroundings of Antalya, Bingöl, and Muş, as well as in the inland parts of the Eastern Black Sea and the north of Eastern Anatolia. It was emphasized that caution should be exercised as floods and inundations may occur in these regions. Furthermore, the wind is expected to blow as a short-term storm, reaching speeds of 50-70 kilometers per hour from southern directions across Eastern Anatolia.

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED

According to meteorological warnings, intermittent showers and thunderstorms are expected to be effective in provinces such as Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, Ordu, Tokat, Siirt, and Adıyaman. It was stated that citizens in these provinces should also be prepared for sudden rainfall.

The danger of avalanches and sudden snowmelt continues, especially in regions of the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia that have high snow cover. The Meteorological Service warned citizens traveling to these regions against disruptions that may be caused by avalanches and snowmelt.
