Yellow-coded heavy rain warning for 11 provinces

The General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM) has published its weather forecasts for Friday, October 2, 2026. According to the report, while rain and thunderstorms are expected across a large part of the country, warnings for heavy precipitation and wind have been issued for certain provinces.

Precipitation is forecast for parts of the Marmara region excluding Edirne, the Eastern Mediterranean, the eastern part of Central Anatolia, the coasts of the Central Black Sea, the Eastern Black Sea, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia, as well as the surroundings of Muğla and Karaman. Rain showers are also expected in the northern districts of İzmir, the western and eastern districts of Antalya, and the eastern part of Tokat.

The precipitation is estimated to be locally heavy in the surroundings of Istanbul, Adana, Osmaniye, Sinop, Erzincan, Tunceli, and Elazığ; in the east of Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and Çanakkale; in the west of Kocaeli; in the north of Balıkesir and Malatya; in the west of Hatay; in the northern parts of Kastamonu; and in the eastern districts of Rize and the north of Artvin.

YELLOW-CODED WARNING IN 11 PROVINCES

The MGM has issued a yellow-coded warning for Adana, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Hatay, Istanbul, Kastamonu, Kırklareli, Kocaeli, Sinop, Tekirdağ, and Osmaniye. Citizens have been urged to be cautious against negative conditions such as flash floods, inundation, lightning, transportation disruptions, and strong winds.

Winds are expected to blow strongly from northern directions, occasionally reaching short-term storm levels, in the west of the Western Black Sea, and along the coasts of Marmara and the North Aegean. It was stated that wind speeds in these regions could reach 50 to 70 kilometers per hour. In the southeast of Eastern Anatolia, strong winds from southern directions with speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour are forecast.

It was reported that air temperatures will remain below seasonal norms across the country. Temperatures are expected to be around 19 degrees in Istanbul, 17 in Ankara, 25 in İzmir, 27 in Antalya, 25 in Adana, and 21 in Diyarbakır.

According to regional forecasts, rain and thunderstorms will be effective throughout the Marmara region. While precipitation is expected in the surroundings of Muğla and the northern districts of İzmir in the Aegean, strong winds are prominent along the North Aegean coasts. In the Mediterranean, rain will be seen in the Eastern Mediterranean and the eastern and western districts of Antalya; precipitation is estimated to be locally heavy in the surroundings of Adana and Hatay.

In the Black Sea region, heavy rain is expected in the surroundings of Sinop and the northern districts of Kastamonu, and after nightfall, in the east of Rize and the north of Artvin. While a heavy rain warning has been issued for the surroundings of Erzincan, Tunceli, and Elazığ, and the north of Malatya in Eastern Anatolia, intermittent rain showers are forecast throughout Southeastern Anatolia.
