US media announced that Israel has launched a retaliatory strike on Iran.

Iranian media, meanwhile, reported that explosions occurred near an airport in the city of Isfahan.

All flights in Iran have been suspended.

Author and academic Barış Doster evaluated the developments between Iran and Israel in the 12punto studio.

'MAJOR POWERS DO NOT FIGHT DIRECTLY'

Doster said, "There has been tension between Iran and Israel for a long time. Israel's massacres in Gaza have put the entire Middle East on alert. At this point, Iran and Israel are making moves by notifying each other, keeping them measured and not overly painful. Iran and Israel will not want this matter to expand.

Major powers do not fight directly. They try to wear each other down through proxy forces. Therefore, I do not expect a conventional war between major powers."

'IT WOULD NOT MAKE TURKEY HAPPY'

Touching upon Turkey's position following the tension between the two countries, the expert stated, "Turkey should advise the parties to act more moderately. The escalation of this tension into a conventional war would not make any country, including Turkey, happy."

'GLOBAL PEACE SHOULD NOT BE ABANDONED'

Evaluating a possible war scenario between Israel and Iran, Doster said, "In the event of a possible war, we would be the country that suffers the most in economic and political terms due to the economic conditions we are currently in. The civil war in Syria is already a headache for Turkey.

If you recall, the US invasion of Iraq also caused headaches for Turkey. The tension between Iran and Israel tires us out in diplomatic, security, and economic terms. Global peace should not be abandoned."
