According to a statement by the German police, a fire broke out at 03:50 local time at a nursing home in the town of Bedburg-Hau in Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) state, which has a population of 13 thousand.

One of the firefighters who arrived at the scene and began extinguishing efforts was injured and taken to the hospital.

46 PEOPLE EVACUATED

46 people were evacuated from the nursing home by teams. According to initial findings, 4 people lost their lives and 23 people were injured in the incident.

The fire has been largely extinguished, while cooling operations and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
